Plans for 2009

I'm bringing back the tidbit.

I promise all five of you that I will be relentless in updating the tidbit every day.  I'm gonna go all Cal, Jr. on the tidbit.  You're going to be sick of me, I swear it!

I'm going to generally most more about less, as well.  More funny stories from behind the Marble-like substance will ensue.

Membership has benefits

Well, not membership, per se.  But I went into a local watering hole for a drink or two on my way home from poring over invoices for a few hours (ah, the glamour of the food and beverage industry), and, lo and behold, there were three beer vendors enjoying themselves.  This is always a good thing, since I can then drink for free.

Two Sierra Celebration Ales and two Newcastles later, I'm content with life, and not a dime poorer.

Life is good.

Caviar

A guest was explaining his recent luxury purchases to a friend last night, including a tin of caviar.

"It's a small thing; it weighs an ounce.  And it's 75 bucks!  That's more than weed!"

People are funny

Woman, sitting at the bar, holding a table tent: "Do you have anything on special?"

Me, increduously: "You're holding the specials in your hand."

How do people get through an average day?

Happy St. Stephen's day!

We have a world wide recession, a $700 Billion bailout of banks where the assho..., er, recipients, of our taxpayer largesse refuse to tell us what they're doing with the money (hint, they're not lending it out like they're supposed to be), an auto industry that's on it's last legs and whose financing arm has made itself into a normal bank to get some of the aforementioned bailout funds (I know, I know, it's relief, not a bailout -- spare me), and a new study that suggests that some effects of global warming may be coming at us faster than expected.

What's headline news coming out of Boston on Boxing Day 2008?  The FDA has approved a drug that will promote eyelash growth.

Friends, I truly fear for the country in which I live.
